“He Told Me He Was A Certified Programmer– But When I Tested Him…”

A few years ago, while I still worked in my former office as an App Developer and Programming Instructor, a guy I knew through business transactions…

… Incidentally walked up to my seat. And after exchanging pleasantries and catching up, he informed me he was then a certified Web Developer from a very renowned IT institute…

He informed me he was opened to Web Development opportunities if I happened to see any…

When I heard that, I decided to give him some little practical test in Web Development with Javascript, but to my greatest disappointment, he couldn’t even understand a basic Javascript code, let alone writing a simple code…

Then when I asked him how long he spent on the institute and how much he paid for the training, when he told me, I was so flabbergasted, to say the least…

You see, every now and then, I come across folks who enroll in some of these renowned Programming institutes, with huge amount of money, and spend several months taking courses; but after graduating with their certificates, they are not confident enough to take up any practical Programming projects…

…But on the other hand, I have trained students just within 3 months and they are able to take up significant Programming projects.

If you are presently, planning to take a course in Programming, don’t just focus on the certificate, but rather, focus much, much, more on the practical knowledge…

Because it is a very known fact that Programming employers are more interested in your practical Programming knowledge, much more than certificates that cannot be validated with practical Programming skill.
